An art, Commerce & Science College, Shankarnagar is a rural area college established in 1991. The main objective of the institution is to provide education to the economically and educationally backward rural section of society. The college has been established having full-fledged three faculty institution. The college has obtained 2(f) UGC recognition in the year 2003 & 12-B in 2004. In NAAC cycle-1 the institution has been awarded with C++ in 2004. The college faculty is a learned one as a result 24 teachers have been awarded Ph. D. Most of them are engaged in post-doctoral research activities. Twelve faculties are research guides, 27 students have been awarded Ph. D. under their guidance. Forty-four research scholars are registered. There are eight faculty members with M. Phil. including three faculty members who have cleared NET. Five of the staff members are working as BOS members. The college has been advancing in a proper way to maintain a good academic standard of the students. Furthermore, the college has taken various initiatives to fulfill the institutional social responsibility. The academic venture of the college has been certified by ISO. The college has been awarded B grade with 2.31 CGPA in 2016. In order to enhance the quality enhancement process, the Institution organized four university-level workshops on a new curriculum of the University. A National Conference in Public Administration was also organized. The Institution is determined to adopt a strategic approach regarding the overall personality development of the students
